This weeks Ruby Tuesday find is the exceptional and original band from Florida called Kingsbury. I was sent a copy of their debut from last year called The Great Compromise and it has been on constant play in my car. The great thing about Kingsbury is that the sound is difficult to describe. It's too easy to make Radiohead comparisons. I do hear Pavement influences along with a nod towards Joy Division and The Replacements. What Kingsbury have in The Great Compromise is a complete album that flows easily, making you take notice of every word sung, encourages spontaneous nodding of the head, tapping of toes and swaying of hips. I'd say Kingsbury live would be a great experience. I have included a few songs from the album for your aural pleasure. If you go to their MySpace they have a number of songs available for download.
Blood in the Kitchen
This is track 2 of the album. Corpse is the opener and can be found on the Myspace page. The rhythm section is superb on this song. Love the lyrics. Perfect soundtrack to a game of Cluedo!
Leave Me Be
If you ever need to be alone but can't because of kids, jealous stalker husband or a nagging wife just pop this on and disappear!
Before Dry Eyes
Six minutes of hi-hat.....pure bliss! Dreamy music at it's best!
